As we start in the New Year, with new hopes, new goals and new plans, we have put together our 21 tips that will help you to grow your business and make the most out of 2021!

Be Business Smart

  1. Technology – have you got the right technology to keep up with your business? Invest in the technology that you need to make your business life easier.
  2. Business support – have you accessed all the business support, including government grants, loans, tax relief relating to Covid-19? Contact your business adviser if you are not certain.
  3. Accounts – keeping your accounts in order will allow you to plan financially. Check out https://www.balmerlimited.co.uk/ for further help with accounts and bookkeeping.
  4. Find the right partnerships – work with companies that can help you, while you help others, don’t work with companies that make your life harder and more difficult.

Be A Leader

  1. Grow as a leader – having created your business you have already become a leader but as your business grows, spend time developing yourself as a leader. Lead your business and employees as you grow.
  2. Be fearless – say yes to something that is out of your comfort zone and take a chance. Develop the new service, employee? your first employee?, reach out to Smart Office Services for assistance. Be brave.
  3. Plan before you act – how are you going to spend your time this year? What are your focuses going to be? Where would you like to be in 6 months’ time? Make sure you are setting realistic milestones and targets.

Develop The Company

  1. Look for ways to serve your existing clients – promotional offers shouldn’t always be only for new clients, look after those who have been there for you through any hard patches and work to help them further.
  2. Define your USP – knowing exactly what your Unique Selling Point is will allow you to tell potential clients and give you the opportunity to capitalise your sales.
  3. Don’t sell products, sell solutions – don’t just sell products, build relationships with your customers and help them.
  4. Get feedback from your current clients – not only can you promote yourself through testimonials, but it allows you to highlight what your clients think and what you can develop on further.

Be Organised

  1. Book your annual leave now – have time in the year to look forward to and recharge the batteries.
  2. Get organised – don’t start the year with a messy desk.
  3. Plan before you act – how are you going to spend your time this year? What are your focuses going to be? Where would you like to be in six months’ time? Make sure you are setting realistic milestones and targets.

Look After Yourself

  1. Keep positive – 2020 was a hard year for many businesses, let’s take 2021 in our stride and make it the best year for our business as we can!
  2. Look after yourself – a healthy mind and a work life balance is one of the best Christmas presents you can give yourself looking into a new year.
  3. Don’t try and do everything – the best people in business can say NO!
  4. Know the difference between working for your business and working in your business – focus YOUR time on growing your business and let others focus on the day to day admin roles. Making sure you have the right people for each task will allow the day to day business to run smoothly.
  5. Never stop learning new things – within our business many of our staff are undertaking other courses and accredited courses outside of work so as a team we are always learning and developing.
  6. Being adaptable – keep your plans adaptable, 2020 involved many people having to switch to home working, keep an open mind and be as flexible as you can in 2021.
  7. Networking – working by yourself remotely or as a small business can be lonely. Connect with others through networking to develop ideas and discuss opportunities.
